Boxing

A battle of high stakes, mental strength and physical endurance is on display in the Boxing ring at the Darwin Convention Centre. Both men and women will compete across a range of weight divisions, throwing punches while ducking and weaving to be named champion.

Dates and Times of Competition

Wednesday 1 May – Friday 3 May  |  Prelims

Weigh in: 0700 – 0800 daily

Session Time 1: 1300 – 1600

Session Time 2: 1700 – 2100

Saturday 4 May  |  Finals

Weigh in: 0700 – 0800 daily

Session Times: 1300 – 1700

Eligibility

This is an elite open competition. Athletes must be born between 01 Jan 1979 and 31 Dec 2000. Athletes are expected to be of regional, state or provincial level and experience, and must be a member of the Appropriate Boxing Association.  No National Champions will be accepted.

Competition Format

Boxing will be a knockout competition and run according to AIBA competition rules.

Boxing Categories

AIBA and the IOC are still to decide the final Olympic men weight categories, accordingly, these weight categories may change to meet new Olympic weight categories.
