Badminton

A highly engaging display of agility, speed and precision timing, Badminton is an exciting spectator sport with a strong following in Asia and parts of Europe. The 2 x 2 team round robin event will see men and women compete in singles, doubles and mixed doubles to claim victory at the Arafura Games in 2019.

Dates and Times of Competition

Round Robin and Playoffs
Saturday 27 April – Monday 29 April
Session 1: 0800 – 1200
Session 2: 1400 – 1800

Playoffs and Finals
Monday 29 April – Tuesday 30 April
Session 1: 0800 – 11:30
Session 2: 1300 – 1600
Session 3: 1800 – 2100

Eligibility

There are no age restrictions.

Matches will be conducted under the BWF laws of Badminton.
Participants must be current members of their local, BWF affiliated Badminton association.
For international athletes, appropriate documentation is required.
Where applicable, players will be asked to provide their BWF rankings.

Competition Format

Competition will be a 2 x 2 team round robin event. Match format will be:

  • MS1
  • MS2
  • WS1
  • WS2
  • MD1
  • WD1
  • XD1
  • XD2

It’s expected teams will be of a state, provincial or regional representative level.

Entries into the Badminton competition are limited.
Please click below to register an expression of interest for your team and advise the current level of competition the team is competing in.
Badminton NT will be in touch prior to September, to determine any additional information prior to the registration portal opening October 26 2018.
